Iran consulates in Turkey closed for another day

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (MNA) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a statement said all three of its consulates in Turkey will be closed on Wed. following the Mon. terror attack on Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov.  

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a statement announced that the country’s consulates in three Turkish cities of Istanbul, Trabzon and Erzurum will be closed on Wednesday, December 21, requesting Iranian nationals to avoid visiting these locations for the second day after the Monday assassination of Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov.

The terror attack was carried out by a 22-year-old off-duty police officer named Mevlut Mert Altintas at the opening of the "Russia through Turks' eyes" photo exhibition. The assailant was shot dead by police in a shoot-out that lasted 15 minutes. 

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement on Tuesday, advising all Iranian tourists to avoid making unnecessary trips to Turkey until further notice.
